About this deal

Clear windows which you can actually see a nice view through – it’s unbelievable that some tent manufacturers scrimp on the windows. Surely it’s one of the main enjoyments of camping! Fully waterproof – 70 Denier flysheet with 6000mm Hydrostatic Head and fully taped seamed with a rain hood above the door to keep you and your belongings dry. It has stood up to some pretty strong coastal wind/rain and we have no complaints at all about its build quality. It also comes with it’s own pump, which is the same as the one supplied with the tent itself – which now means you have a spare pump if one breaks. The front of the Sierra Ridge is interesting. It consists of a large windowed section which provides great views of the outside world. The window can be handily covered up with an in-built blind to stop light shining in (or to stop people ogling!). On nice days, the whole of the front can be rolled up, providing great views and airflow. One thing to note is that the front section is not fully zipped (it uses velcro at the bottom) and so you have to be careful how you peg it out to avoid rain water seeping in.

Their inflatable design makes them easier to pitch compared to traditional pole tents, and they come with a pump, manometer, and repair kit should you encounter any structural damage while out in the bush. The tents are essentially the same (same footprint etc), but the 8.1 has the darker bedrooms. I have therefore linked to the Berghaus Air 8.1 nightfall in this post. Where to buy the Berghaus Air 8 inflatable tent The Ascension FTX is available in both 4-person and 6-person sizes, and each of these can be fabricated using either polyester material or the more expensive ‘TC’ technical cotton. Each of the three bedroom areas of the tent measure 140 x 210cm, and for the rear compartment there is a really useful access hatch to the outside world. This enables an electric hookup cable to be passed through into the tent. In hot climates, this hatch can also promote airflow through the tent which is essential for remaining cool. All the bedroom pods also have mosquito/insect netting. The tent sleeps families or groups of up to 8 people and has 4-berth bedrooms at each end, with living space in the middle. It feels really spacious and you can stand up easily throughout.

It has large windows to let in lots of light if you fold down the curtains. There is lots of headroom. The lounge living space is a decent 275x 380cm (10.45 square metres) in area and is a lovely space for chilling out and relaxing. The standard polyester 401 is smaller and lighter at 42kg, with the TC 401 weighing in at 54kg. A noticeable increase in weight from the polycotton fabric there. It was used 5 times in 2016. First time was in April, and stood up well to some very strong winds. With its 6000mm waterproof rating, we have never had any issues with rain. We’ve seen plenty of the wet stuff and stayed cosy and dry. It is generally said that fabrics with a rating of 3000mm can easily handle most British weather, so this one goes above and beyond, especially with its fully taped seams. It’s been wet, we’ve been dry- simple.

Absolutely love the tent. With both bedrooms up there isn't that much living space, but we only used one, so we had plenty of space, plus the porch was used for the table and all our cooking stuff, so that gave us a lot more room. Main lounge area (320cm x 190cm) having large side and front doors, each with windows offering great visibility – Kampa use their ‘crystal clear’ tech for this and it works well. The Air 6XL is exceptionally well designed, irrespective of the material choice you make. It’s spacious and feels a quality choice – this is a tent to last a lifetime. The high price-tag therefore needs to be looked at as an investment in your family’s future and a potential creator of amazing memories. We believe it makes sense to spend a little extra to help facilitate this.It rained one of the nights for several hours, but not a drop of water came in, and the tent didn't move in the wind. The Antrim has a sizeable covered front porch area which is a great place to sit. On a sunny day there is ample room to sit and enjoy the view whilst also offering protection if a shower starts hammering down. You could definitely bring a BBQ or camping stove into this area to cook and there is great visibility. We’ve found over the years that if a tent is marketed for a maximum of three people, then the third person has to be on the very small side. It’s therefore typically worth adding ‘+1’ to the number of people you’re looking to accommodate. E.g. if you’re a family of three, we recommend looking for at least a four-person tent. In practice though, bigger is often better and I would not rule out a 6-person tent for a family of four, especially if you have a large car.

Actually we should give a shoutout to the windows on the Joro – they are excellent. The plastic ‘glass’ needs to be seen to be believed and the Diamond Clear name they have chosen is very apt. These are up there with the best windows on the tent scene at the moment. Lounge and Sleeping Area From parking up, putting down the footprint, pegging down the corners of the Air 8, pumping it up, pegging it down, and pegging the guy ropes. It took approximately 30 minutes in total on my own. The pump of the beams simply took 30 seconds per beam. I put the tent up in high winds. If reading this Berghaus Air 8 tent review has got you in the camping mood, try the following for some holiday inspiration!Yes, Berghaus makes an Air Porch that can be seamlessly attached to any of their air tents. It gives you an additional space measuring 345cm x 360cm, and has all the same high-quality features as their tents. It is meant to be used as a shaded porch, but you could use it as a living space, storage area, or even another bedroom. If I was to be critical the only point I would make is; the tent would benefit from additional windows, it's a tad dark, but ideal for sleeping. However, there is one piece of camping kit that is worth it’s weight in gold and we don’t know how we could ever manage without it again – we have been spoilt. Taking it down was just a easy, and by folding it three times down the length and rolling it up, it easily fits in the slightly oversized bag first time. Please note that all the Weathermaster tents are a light pastel green in colour which may not to be everyone’s taste. Personally, we are fans of it as it is more subdued than the previous generation Coleman Valdes 6XL airbeam tent (which is still a great tent if you can get hold of one). However, it may have been nice to include an alternative colour in the Weathermaster lineup. Sleep well in the Weathermaster
