Below is that same card base, trimmed down after running my blades together about 300 times (some cutting paper, some without paper). Better, but still not acceptable: You'd think a company that had already made three versions of the large size cutter would have saved enough of the profits to fund the production costs of the portable cutter.

But if I forget for some reason, the cut is definitely not clean. I think it could be described as "feathery". Here's the video. Watch how she uses her finger to push the bottom of the carriage against the stationary metal blade. I'm scared to mess with it too much. I don't want to loosen something and not be able to tighten it or adjust something and make it worse--and then have them or JoAnn's tell me I've voided my warranty.I've been searching for the perfect trimmer for more than 15 years. I don't think there is such a thing. I know a 4-pound Cutterpillar with a 14"x14" footprint is not perfect. But maybe the combination of Cutterpillar and Fiskars rotary will come close. The light is super bright, almost too bright. It's probably a nice feature for someone who needs perfectly placed cuts along a design, but not at all necessary for someone who cuts according to measurements.

This is extremely uncommon with the new Pro ABS and Crop models as we have taken great pains to insure that the design does not allow misalignment. However, in a few rare cases it has been discovered that inferior screws in the stationary blade may actually push one end of the blade farther or closer to the green work surface, creating a crooked cut. In this case, you can usually fix the issue simply by changing the screws around. Move the middle two screws to the top and bottom positions THEN move the top and bottom screws to the middle. If a bad screw is at fault, having the top and bottom ends secured with good screws will keep the blade in correct position. We can also send you replacement screws if more than one screw is at fault. I think that something that costs that much should work well, right out of the box, and should not have to be adjusted, (especially with something like a hex screwdriver, which most of us don't have.)There is something about this cutter that rings a bell for me. I think there was a thread about this cutter some where. There is something about this cutter or the MFGer that isn't positive. Anyone know what it is?
