There is a strong build up to the island, you get to know (and perhaps even care) about the characters and the first appearance of Kong is terrific. Such is Jackson's expert control, unseen since Spielberg's populist heyday; such is his absolute conviction that some themes - namely the death of innocence - transcend the language of words.

However, the film wasn’t without its criticisms and it left a minority of audience members feeling unfulfilled. After a bunch of interminable scenes on a boat involving instantly forgettable supporting characters, the crew is captured by a village of savages, with Ann being served as the main course for Kong. So, it goes without saying, the colors are noticeably more vibrant and varied than in its HD SDR counterpart. On the island they actually find a number of prehistoric animals and also their greatest enemy, Kong, who falls in love with the beautiful actress Ann.Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Carl and Ann's new love, Jack Driscoll must travel through the jungle looking for Kong and Ann, whilst avoiding all sorts of creatures and beasts. New artworks have been created for the Home Entertainment releases by graphic designer Sophie Bland, and for the 4K UHD Steelbook release by Francesco Francavilla. The lighting looks much brighter in these HDR exteriors too, making them feel more natural and, surprisingly, giving you a new-found respect for the special effects work.

alongside the party, immersed in the world in a way that is perhaps even more crucial to the film than the improved clarity the UHD video offers. Much as I love 4K Blu-rays, only a few titles to date have looked outright spectacular enough to actually give me a rush over the sheer beauty of the pictures I’m watching. One sequence in this film rightfully garners this description: men stuck in a pit being attacked and eaten alive by foul bugs, nasty spiders and horrific leeches. The movie was originally shot on traditional 35mm film and later transferred to a 2K digital intermediate, and for all intents and purposes, it would appear Universal simply recycled the same master used for the Blu-ray.All cast members had itself nicely to this piece with Watts as the pretty actress, Black as the director with a intriguing resemblance both in reptutation and struggle as a young Orson Welles and Brody as the playwright mixed into the mess of things. The best moment is Kong's rampage in New York where the city looks splendid immersed in so much darkness and shadows, but some of the detailing of objects in the distance now completely covered in deep, black shadows. While King Kong’s 4K HDR picture quality is for the most part insanely good, going far beyond anything I’d expected, there are one or two little niggles. Dwan is abducted and offered as a sacrifice to the savage beast, before the crew rescue her and capture Kong to take him to New York.

Kong arrives as the dinosaur corners Darrow; the ape picks her up to take her out of harm's way, only to be faced with a second dinosaur. Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release a 4K Blu-ray Ultimate Edition of Peter Jackson's film King Kong (2005), starring Naomi Watts, Jack Black, Adrien Brody, Thomas Kretschmann, and Colin Hanks. So, unfortunately, does one of the dinosaurs, and the pendulum motion brings it dangerously close to her every few seconds. For items that are dispatched using our standard service, we ask that you wait 14 days from the date of dispatch before reporting any items as undelivered. Darrow's attempts to escape from Kong are futile, so she entertains him with dancing and gymnastics. Plus could you really see Robert De Niro in a dinosaur stampede or George Clooney fighting giant wetas? With dialogue remaining firm and well prioritized, this is nothing short of an outstanding track from Universal. With the original being a classic gem, and the seventies having it’s moments (with the exception of the literal taking of the title in the third act), this version is the most cinematic and the most visual in scope of all three.
