About this deal

As with its predecessor Finding Nemo, the studio expanded the theater count for the film during Labor Day Weekend from 345 to 2,075. My passions are horses and all animals, my children, singing in a choir, and long road trips through the backroads of America. I knew that she had spent most of her youth wandering the ocean alone, and I wanted to know that she could find her new family, if she ever got lost again. While promoting the film, actress Ellen DeGeneres reminded audiences that Nemo and Dory's real-life home, the Great Barrier Reef, is under enormous threat, mostly due to coral bleaching, a process induced by climate change, which has killed coral reefs on an enormous scale.

On the night of Frank's death on May 16, 1919, Maud imparted in a letter to her relatives, Helen Leslie and Leslie Gage: He told me many times I was the only one he had ever loved. As Maud waited for the elevator, her blurry reflection looked back at her from the shining brass of the twin doors. That said it took a lot to dampen their spirits, and despite the difficulties there were glimmers of hope, and moments where Frank Baum’s imagination shone through, adding a little magic and happiness in the most uncertain of times. She pulled her cardigan tighter around her shoulders as the receptionist gave her a sympathetic look.

Although she’s determined to focus on her education, Maud is drawn to Frank, who has a fledgling theater company. But there are aspects of this experience as she watches the story come to life that remind her of points in her life, both treasured family memories and times of struggle, and the narrative alternates between two timelines – the film production in the 1930’s and the 1880’s where we see Maud’s life unfold.Ingrid Barrøy, her father, Hans, mother, Maria, grandfather Martin, and slightly addled aunt Barbro are the owners and sole inhabitants of Barrøy Island, one of numerous small family-owned islands in an area of Norway barely touched by the outside world. This weighed on my mind while I read portions of this book, describing the abuse Judy was subjected to during the filming of the movie. Hollywood, 1938: As soon as she learns that M-G-M is adapting her late husband’s masterpiece, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, for the screen, Maud Gage Baum sets about trying to visit the set.
