About this deal

From the bestselling author of Red, White and Royal Blue and One Last Stop comes a debut YA romantic comedy - perfect for fans of Heartstopper!

If future YA novels read anything like I Kissed Shara Wheeler , I can assure you I will be reading them.Chloe is so close to beating Shara, but on the weekend of the senior prom, Shara kisses Chloe and then vanishes. With that being said, it wasn't perfect for me (I did end up kind of struggling with the John Green™-ness of the plot), but I just *know* that my baby gay teenage self would have made loving this book my entire personality lmao.

Raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimized by this funny, weird, razor-sharp, intensely compassionate, subversive, sweet, electrifyingly romantic knockout of a book.Closet: clothes, a carefully organized shoe rack, prom and homecoming dresses zipped inside tidy garment bags. Chosen family and LGBTQIA+ elders are given weight to the central romantic story lines in this thoughtful meditation on LGBTQIA+ identity, pride, popularity, academic success, jealousy, and idolization. Instead, McQuiston started making excuses and reasons why Shara really isn’t bad and that was completely disappointing.

I loved the discussion of pronouns, especially how certain pronouns can fit your identity at different points of your life. Then I started training for a new job (it was far more intensive than I ever imagined) that left me with no time at all to read, and so here I am, leaving my review a week after release day. It made me smile and think back on how a book like this could have changed my whole life when I was 17. There was one point, I think it was passed the half way mark, that I didn’t like where the story with Chloe was going and it actually put a bad feeling into my stomach that made me want to stop reading. it’s about being proud together, but safely and quietly, protecting each other, and knowing there is a space in the world for you to exist and belong.A funny, modern, and entertaining novel, One Last Stop will have you rooting for love that makes people feel free to be their truest selves. There’s a scene where they take a car ride together and there’s a frog and I want to live in that moment. Both slightly Machiavellian, hyper competitive perfectionists racing to outwit one another, so different on the surface yet so similar at their core. m. Thirty-three minutes until the end of the late service at Willowgrove Christian Church, where the Wheelers are spending their morning pretending to be nice, normal folks whose nice, normal daughter didn’t stage a disappearing act at prom twelve hours ago. I’m not going to say that McQuiston isn’t a perfect YA match, it’s just that there is a lot of amazing competition in this space so I don’t think this book shined like I expected it too.
