A guide for young people to help them grow in confidence as they navigate the sometimes perilous journey into adulthood. In this book, Rubin outlines her own resolutions for the year she spent working on her own "happiness project. So just do it- You making another attempt in the gym is more experience than you had when you got up today!

Rubin's angle here isn't telling readers to do something -- rather, it's to share her own experience in hopes of inspiring readers to think differently about their own happiness.

Hollis begins each chapter with a specific lie she once believed about herself, then analyzes it and provides tools for like-minded women to stop believing it. If you struggle with confidence in the sense of talking to people or being ashamed of yourself, this might help you. I would say, this has made me feel a lot more confident that if James Smith can do it, I can also do it.

If I would give one piece of advice for the author (again recognising the irony here); Advice on confidence without personal narrative/ vulnerability is preaching. James has his little jokes thats sometimes not funny but yet allows the reader some insight to his personality. sunk cost fallacy - eg just because you’ve been with someone for years doesn’t mean it’s right- people can stay just because they don’t want to waste the resources they’ve already invested. It really doesn’t matter where you start but where you’re going, setting the next goal, gives you an incentive to continue.Perhaps I went in with high expectations as I expected a book packed full of practical tips on how to be more confident when, apart from the last 2o pages, it was more theoretical.

From two times number one Sunday Times bestselling author, James Smith, comes HOW TO BE CONFIDENT - the third instalment in James' no-nonsense guides to gaining the tools to empower your decision-making and change your life. Yes, it’s not terrible - you just have to be of a certain demographic to be able to appreciate this book. Anyways, he did read it well and with many, Many pauses I did listen to the whole thing, so I guess it’s not That bad. This book took me a while to finish and that is no reflection on the book and rather just that my life got the way.Another says, "I felt overwhelmed by my responsibilities: work, school, mom, wife, trying to be everything to everyone… By the end of the first chapter, I was ready to start saying yes to more things in life. I was so busy waiting for things to get better that I wasn't in action about living a happy life… I feel like I am finally awake after an extended nap. I think I'm only so nitpicky because I am a supporter of his message and the quality of his work is always so high. Another says, "I'm a psychotherapist, and I have gotten a lot out of this book personally and have recommended it to a lot of my clients. Luckily, with his candid, no-nonsense advice, experience and passion, James is here to lead the way.
