The plot doesn't bog down with heavy explanations, but there's enough there to send curious young readers (and possibly older ones) scurrying to Wikipedia or the Internet for answers.

I wouldn't say that I was ever held in suspense (because the books are pretty predictable), but I was certainly interested. In typical Alex Rider style, he wins a round of Texas Hold 'em on someone else's money, donates it all back, and half a dozen or so pages later, the car he, Sabina, and Mr.It's a classic spy novel, but it is really well written with non-stop action and suspense, just as it should be. Grabbing a rope hanging from a helicopter that is flying by when you are on a wobbly roof about to fall is hard enough.

Alex has his friend, Tom Harris, cover for him as he breaks away from the group to infiltrate Straik's office, using a locator map disguised as a postcard. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. but alas, Im stuck with a different plot but the same exact concept as most of the books in this series. Its a neat list that tells you what you SHOULD do to carry out your evil plots, cause' whatever you all are reading is obviously not working!

Plot: Alex is trying to live a normal life away from MI6 after telling them once again that he didn't want to be used again by them at the end of book seven. I don't say that often about teenage boy characters - they are almost always as annoying as real-life adolescent males. Usually Alex gets recruited into a mission for MI-6 through some bit of backhanded blackmail, but in this one he inadvertently steps afoul of Desmond McCain (our villain) and ends up first in the sights of a sharpshooter, then at the eye of the storm McCain unleashes on him. I haven't read any others (yeah I know that it is bad to start a book in the middle of a series) but I must say that I am very excited to read the others. To destroy the population of Africa would make Mccain a very rich man because he would be able to scam people out of their donations.I would like it to be a surprise, diving into Alex's mind to figure out what he thinks and ultimately the whole plan. He works for an Indian Intelligence Agency hell-bent on taking revenge on the bad guy for orchestrating the bombing in India. This book, more than any of the others, really takes a spin off the James Bond 007 franchise when it opens up on Alex playing Texas Hold `em with the big baddie of the book.

Alex turns to MI6 for help but their help doesn't come cheap: they need Alex to spy on the activities at a GM crop plant. In fact I wrote my first book when I was ten, stuck in a miserable, north London boarding school where reading and telling stories were my only lifeline.
