A mountain is a very tall high, natural place on Earth - higher than a hill. The tallest mountain on Earth is Mt. Everest. The Bible makes it clear that it is God’s will for us to practice continual thankfulness, and yet it also gives us lots of room for grief and sadness when life is so hard. The Mayflower was the name of the ship in which the 102 Pilgrims sailed from England to what is now Massachusetts, on the northeastern coast of the USA. The Pilgrims landed on December 11, 1620. Professor Barry Carpenter, OBE, PhD, University of Worcester M is for Autism invites us into the world of a young woman with autism and allows us to view it through her lens. What an intriguing world we enter. This is a book to be read by everyone!

I loved how she wrote honestly that complaining and being negative is addictive, and robs yourself, your husband and your children of joy. I have been deeply, deeply burdened and saddened to see many Christian women authors (and many readers) not have the wisdom to grasp this concept. I loved how she came down hard at times, but also gracefully provoked thought by saying things such as “could it by finding other people to agree with us, we focus and intensify and justify our negative attitudes toward our problems?” 🔥 M's story is great. I hope that you'll read the book to understand Autism/Asperger's from a more personal angle. I give this book 4 paw prints from Booklover Catlady. Seriously, I thought these stories were good enough, many of them, the first THREE times they were published. Five times, in at least one case, and possibly two. But there is not a single new story in this collection, folks. I almost titled this review "R is for Ripoff." The picture with today’s post are some flowers for Mother. Today’s header shows Ellis Island. A place that lots of mothers and fathers passed through to make us what we are today. The macaroni penguin is a penguin from the Antarctic that has a yellow, feathery crest on its head. Sue Grafton was a #1 New York Times bestselling author. She is best known for her “alphabet series” featuring private investigator Kinsey Millhone in the fictional city of Santa Teresa, California. Prior to success with this series, she wrote screenplays for television movies. Her earlier novels include Keziah Dane (1967) and The Lolly-Madonna War (1969), both out of print. In the book Kinsey and Me she gave us stories that revealed Kinsey's origins and Sue's past. No doubt Abbie loves the Lord, her husband, and her kids. I appreciated her desire to share her goal of Biblical based mothering and wanting more from this generation of Christian “mamas.” However, I consider myself a high capacity mom of 3 boys who wears many hats similar to Abbie, but I felt like I only read all the things I was subpar at that she excels. She calls it conviction if you feel less than, I felt like it was straight up guilt/shame. And even if she said “follow me as I follow Christ” referencing Paul… I certainly felt like she gave every opportunity she could to just say - actually just follow me and my ways.

Plus here are some of our reader favorites: Memorial Day honors US soldiers who died fighting for their country. Memorial Day is celebrated on the last Monday in May. October in the Chair: Highly fanciful meeting of the twelve months. Started off interesting but soon faded. This either should've been a novel or cut. Anne and I took a walk today. We walked up to downtown Clayton for Mother’s Day brunch, at the Pomme Cafe. The weather was nice enough today to eat outside. Soon after we sat down, another couple sat down next to us. Immediately after sitting down the women exclaimed, “I wish someone would call and wish me a Happy Mother’s Day.” So I wished her a Happy Mother’s Day. This seemed to please her until soon after, when one of her children sent her a text, wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day. Not knowing what to do with the text, let alone how to respond to it kind of perplexed and then eventually vexed her.We will never have peace until to listen to the Holy Spirit in the area he is nudging us to grow in.

The writing is typical Grafton. I usually get into a reading groove with these books and just hang on for the ride. The flow worked though I wanted at times the story to go faster since it felt like Kinsey was just spinning her wheels. The setting of the book is mostly in Santa Teresa. Metamorphosis is the transformation of an animal during its life cycle (from larva to adult). For example, the larval stage of butterflies and moths (called the caterpillar) metamorphoses into a winged, flying adult (the adult butterfly or moth). A really uneven collection of stories but, as Neil Gaimen says in his eloquent introduction, "There's another good thing about a book of short stories: you don't have to like them all. If there's one you don't enjoy, well, there will be another one along soon." I was diagnosed 2 years ago at age 41. The main voice in this book is teenage "M" who shares her story with autism, being a teenager and wanting to be "normal".The remaining stories are bound in magical realism. From a group of gourmands who fear they have eaten everything there is to be eaten on the planet, that is until they find out about the mystical Sunbird. To a story about a child who can talk to ghosts, and simply wants to provide the ghost of a woman who was drowned and burned as a witch, a headstone to mark where she is buried. This one just happens to be my favourite.
