The Katana 50 for me is kind of your starter for 10, then you get the slightly more serious older brother in the guise of the Katana 100, and then the slightly more Pro and Articulate Artist Series - which delivers even more depth of detail. I am still adamant that Boss has the best range of solid state amps of any Amp Manufactures - and that range is even more rounded now with these 3 new additions. The ‘crunch’ channel is a little thinner sounding than the clean, and it’s the least good sounding channel in my opinion. This doesn’t mean it’s bad, but it’s not as impressive as the rest of the channels. The EQ is a little more important here, as it’s easy to get it to sound fizzy with too much of anything. The next step is Lead. Soaring melodies and scorching distorted tones for solos of any genre - and we mean any genre. For the gain-lovers; Brown. From chugging to shredding, the Brown setting is born for all things metal. And finally, an Acoustic mode for that soothing, resonant voice that'll make your electro-acoustic sparkle with character. Truthfully, there really isn't anything the MKII can't do.

Alongside the evolution of their Katana amps, Boss has also evolved its accompanying Tone Studio software.Featuring a refreshed interface,a number of parameters have been consolidated into the main screen to enhance workflow for users. Boss has also made a dedicated 'Pedal FX' category, whichmakesit easier to assign wah and pedal bend effects to a connected expression pedal. If you own a first-generation Boss Katana, it’s also possible to import your custom patches and use them all with a Katana MkII! Key Features

BOSS Katana-50 MkII Combo Guitar Amplifier Features:

With 50 watts of power and a custom 12-inch speaker, the Katana-50 delivers a commanding range of gig-worthy tones that gracefully slice through any band scenario. The amp also excels for home playing, with a uniquely efficient design and innovative Power Control that provides inspiring sound and response at low volumes. In addition, the Katana-50 includes integrated access to a huge range of BOSS effects, which are customizable using the free BOSS Tone Studio editor software. And with the amp’s powerful Tone Setting memories, you can store your favorite amp channel setups and effects combinations for instant recall.

There’s also a handy carrying handle at the top of the amp. The handle is made of a sturdy rubber material. The Boss Katana 50 MkII EX expands on the capabilities of the best-selling Katana 50 MkII guitar amp combo, providing more performance versatility in the same portable design. GA-FC and GA-FC EX support allows you to select Tone Setting memories, turn effects on/off, and even more with Boss' dedicated foot controllers. There's also a handy line output for sending mix-ready tone straight to a house PA, plus the ability to link a second Katana MkII amp with the Stereo Expand feature — for three-dimensional, immersive sonics! Optional GA-FC and GA-FC EX foot controllers provide complete amp control, including expanded Tone Setting selection, effects on/off, expression pedal control, and more. It’s really really loud. Personally, I’ve been able to easily get over a loud drummer and bass player with a 4×15 cab at not even half the total volume. With its built-in BOSS effects, the Katana-50 lets you perform anywhere with just a guitar and amp. Connecting to BOSS Tone Studio via USB provides access to 65 fully customizable effects, and you can load your favorites into the amp’s various effects sections. Going beyond standard distortion, delay, and reverb, the selection includes effects types like pitch shifting, ring mod, slicer, and many more. Channel and global parametric EQs are available as well for powerful overall tone shaping. Version 3 Effects and Control FeaturesIt only gets better.
