As refugees, they contributed massively to the local agricultural economy and, in many ways, personified the “Dig for Victory” mentality. This, the difficulty of attracting new recruits since Kindertransport ended, and the ever-increasing costs of maintaining a castle in poor condition, all led to questions over their future. The event is Based in Wales' most haunted castle, which was made famous as the the home of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2020. Between 1939 and 1941, more than 200 Kindertransport children escaped war-torn Europe to Gwrych Castle in north Wales. We’re sorry but unfortunately the scare attractions are not accessible for people in wheelchairs or those with mobility issues due to narrow corridors, uneven ground, steps and tight spaces.

By contrast, training centres such as the one at Gwrych Castle — better known these days for its starring role in I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here during lockdown — have been somewhat neglected; as one historian commented, they were “transient phenomena” that “left few traces on the ground”. He also explores the history of the building itself, from its origins in the nineteenth century up to its use in the reality television series I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! The attraction itself follows a story about finding the Holy Grail and choosing between the white lady and the red witch.

Arieh Handler, who led the scheme, appointed a permanent rabbi at the castle and chose it as the venue for his own wedding. One of the most recognisable buildings in North Wales, the castle is now widely known for hosting I'm A Celebrity. We have enjoyed some of the unique scares created by Area 51 at Whatton House of Horror and Satan's Slammer, and really look forward to what they have planned for thus event in the future. The children arrived at the castle in Abergele in 1939 as part of the 10,000 Jewish refugees who escaped to the UK from Nazi-occupied countries and at the time, only refugees aged 17 or under were allowed into Britain.

Folklore tells us of trapped spirits, humans that never made it out alive, still desperate to escape the castle grounds. This event is designed to scare, actors will jump out, there will be darkness, strobe effects, smoke machines and loud music.
